Aesthetic education is fundamental to young children’s holistic development and future
lives. The development of aesthetic sensibility has been promoted in early childhood education in various countries and is an important issue in Taiwan’s current educational practice. This paper aims to examine the aesthetic domain of the Early Childhood Education and Care Curriculum Framework, promulgated by the Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, highlighting the importance of aesthetic education for young children in Taiwan. The objective of this research study is to better understand the aesthetic education of Taiwan’s young children, and provide insight for preschool teachers who implement aesthetic education. The findings are as follows: (1) the goals of aesthetic domain in the curriculum framework is to help young children enjoy aesthetic experience and artistic creation, and develop rich imagination, and respond to feelings and preferences for artistic creation of young children; (2) the aesthetic domain includes the development of “exploration and awareness”, “performance and creation”, and “response and appreciation”; (3) the learning aspect of the aesthetic domain is divided into two parts: “affection” and “artistic media”; (4) teachers should also pay attention to appropriate arts and cultural activities so the young children can experience their own local culture. If preschool teachers open their eyes and ears, they can guide young children to share in the beauty and joy of life. This paper provides discourses of preschool teachers who design an aesthetic education curriculum and offers practical, concrete suggestions that can support the aesthetic education of young children in Taiwan.

Perceived Environmental and Health Impacts of Gas Flaring on Residents in Kwale Communities, Southern Nigeria

This study was designed to examine the perceived environmental effects of gas flaring and its associated health impact on residents in Kwale communities, Southern Nigeria. Three research objectives guided the study. Descriptive survey design and purposive sampling technique was adopted for the study. 750 household respondents from five different communities in Kwale axis were used for the study and an 18 item self-structured questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents. The instrument for data collection was administered to the respondents in the communities. The study revealed that gas flaring impact on the social, economic and environmental quality of the communities as 79.6% of the respondents positively affirmed the finding. A reasonable percentage (89.6%) of the sampled household respondents consent that gas flaring impact on the environmental activities as well as health of residents in the study area. Furthermore, 68% of the respondents confirm that gas flaring has a devastating effects on the vegetation and agricultural activities of the residents as some of them reported cases of stunted growth of crops, withered crop leaves, defoliation of plant and wrinkling of plant leaves. A higher percentage of respondents confirmed cases of critical gas flaring health related sick suffered by either themselves or family members and some of the respondents as well complained of excessive heat radiation and increase in temperature. Based on the findings, sustainable strategy for natural gas utilization was recommended in order to curtail the negative impacts and convert the excessive gas for economic and environmental benefits. Attractiveness of Arthropodal Hexapod Orders to Light-Emitting Diode and Incandescent Bulb Light Colours

Dearth of information on response of hexapod orders to light sources and colours informed this study. The study was conducted in Federal University Wukari, Nigeria in the month of May, 2019 to evaluate the attractiveness of hexapod orders to Light-emitting Diode (LED) and Incandescent bulb light colours. Daily sampling using fabricated light traps with 5 different colours (white, yellow, red, green and blued) for each bulb type in 6 replicates was done. A trap with no lighting source was the control. Hexapods collected were sorted into their respective orders. Of the overall 13 insect orders collected, LED bulbs attracted 11 while incandescent, 10. Even though, certain hexapod orders exhibited higher affinity to specific colours, statistical analysis revealed that of the 11 orders from LED, differences in the mean number of insects attracted among the bulb colours was significant (p<0.05) only in Coleoptera and Lepidoptera while for incandescent bulb colours, the mean number of insects attracted was significant for Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Orthoptera, Mantodea, Odonata and Homoptera. Insect orders generally had higher affinity to white and blue colours. LED bulb colours significantly attracted higher number of insects than their corresponding incandescent colours, except for white on which incandescent was more attractive (p>0.05). Overall, attractiveness to hexapod orders increases with rinsing light intensity and LED bulbs were found to be more attractive to hexapods than do incandescent bulbs. Therefore, LED bulbs of higher light intensity with colours around the blue/white spectrum show potential for use in manipulating hexapods for man’s benefit. Contribution/ Originality
This study discovers that hexapod orders are largely highly responsive positively to blue and white electric light of higher intensity. It also shows that, the LED bulbs were generally more attractive to the hexapod orders than the incandescent. This knowledge can be harnessed in manipulating the hexapods for man’s benefit. Instructors Perceptions of EFL Supervisors Classroom Observation Practices at University Level

This paper investigated the instructors' perceptions of supervisors' classroom observation practices at Taif University English Language Center (TUELC) in the second semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. The researcher attempted to answer two questions. The first investigated the instructors' perceptions of supervisors' classroom observation practices. The second question investigated the instructors' suggestions for better practices by supervisors. A 4- Likert scale questionnaire was used to gather data from fifty nine instructors to answer the first question, and content analysis was used to answer the second question. The collected data were analyzed in the form of descriptive statistics, using means, standard deviation, frequencies, and percentages. The results showed that the instructors were generally satisfied with the supervisors' classroom observation practices. However, some had certain concerns regarding some observation practices to be considered for further action of improvement. In addition, the instructors had several suggestions for better practices implemented by supervisors. The most important of these was the suggestion to conduct peer observation. Based on the results, the researcher drew several conclusions and recommendations. Contribution/ Originality
This study contributes to the existing literature by adopting the collaborative approach of supervision following the proposed observation guidelines. Adopting this approach can contribute to changing the negative perceptions instructors have regarding classroom observation in terms of the evaluative nature of the current authoritative practices implemented by supervisors. Realistic Mathematics Education in Vietnam: Recent Policies and Practices

The aims of this study are two-fold. First, the existing literature is reviewed to establish a framework with which to evaluate the evolution of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) in terms of policies and practices. The framework comprises four factors: (i) national vision and strategy; (ii) curriculum and educational materials; (iii) tests and examinations; and (iv) teacher training programs. Second, this framework was used to analyze RME implementation in Vietnam, based on data obtained from document analysis and participant observation. From the experiences of other countries, several sustainable and suitable guidelines are proposed for the further practical and efficient application of RME in Vietnam. This study also outlines some possible directions for future RME research. Contribution/ Originality

Evaluation of Environmental Awareness Level among Stakeholders in Rural and Urban Communities, Southern Nigeria

This study was carried out to evaluate the level of environmental awareness of stakeholders in the urban and rural settlements in Delta State, southern Nigeria so as to infer the depth of environmental education that would be embarked on. Five major stakeholders in the state that constituted the major strata of sampling were selected. A total of 14 communities; 7 in the urban/semi urban local governments and 7 in the rural local governments were studied using the stratified sampling technique. Descriptive statistic was adopted for the study and questionnaires were administered to stakeholders. The study revealed that contrary to findings from a number of studies in other part of the globe, students were more knowledgeable on environmental issues followed by public/civil servants and traders/businessmen among stakeholders from the urban settlements. Stakeholders younger in age were not more knowledgeable than older stakeholders in the rural settlements about environmental problems. Male stakeholders had higher percentage level of awareness than their female counterparts. A higher percentage of stakeholders from the rural settlements are still not aware on the environmental terms sought for in this study than stakeholders from urban settlements. This study recommends that given the current level of environmental degradation experienced on a daily base in Nigeria and the limited awareness level of stakeholders on environmental issues, government at various levels should through wider publicity in the ministries of environment and education intensify the campaign on environmental education. This study is one of the very few studies which have investigated the environmental awareness level among stakeholders in the rural-urban communities of Nigeria. Assessment of Ground Water Abstraction in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, Gombe State

Groundwater is the major freshwater store acting in the hydrological cycle. It provides water for human consumption, agriculture, industry and many groundwater-dependent ecosystems, especially during dry season and drought periods. This study “Assessment of Ground Water Abstraction in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area” aimed at examine the quantity of water abstracted for various uses in the study area and its implications for future development. Field Measurement, Questionnaire and GPS device was used to collect information about water sources and uses in the study area and data collected were analyzed using T-test and descriptive statistics. The result shows that there is a significant difference in the depth of boreholes and wells between periods with minimum and maximum depth of 26m and 53.5 for boreholes and 12m and 21m for wells respectively. The study also revealed that Table water industries, Block industries, Fishpond, Water Vendors and Irrigation agriculture are the dominant activities that are using underground water with annual abstraction rate of 1785000m3, 1905600m3, 1818150m3, 3168000m3 and 1827100m3 respectively. A general decline in rainfall and geological nature of Gombe town has led to the over exploitation of groundwater in the study area. Sustainable groundwater management in the future requires groundwater to be used in a manner that can be maintained for an indefinite time without having unacceptable environmental, economic or social consequences. This research work title assessment of groundwater abstraction in kwadon Gombe state will contribute to existing literature especially in the fields of water resource management and hydrology. Empirical methods were used in collecting relevant data and this study is among few and non-carried out in the state. Emotional Divorce and its Relationship with Psychological Hardiness

This study aimed to identify the impact of emotional divorce and its relationship with psychological hardiness for a sample of married female students at Yarmok University. It also aimed at recognizing the differences between those students impacted by emotional divorce in light of certain factors, namely the duration of marriage, the family's monthly salary and the husband's educational level. The researchers used a questionnaire as the study instrument that consisted of a thirty-item emotional divorce scale and a thirty-one-item psychological hardiness scale. The researchers found that by using the statistical analysis of means and standard deviations, three- way ANOVA analysis, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient, the level of emotional divorce among married female students at Yarmok University was low. Unexpectedly, the level of psychological hardiness among the married female students was high. In addition, the study results showed that there is a negative statistical relationship between emotional divorce and psychological hardiness for married female students at Yarmok University. This study documented the negative emotional impact of divorce in the constitution of the psychological –hardiness personality among the married female students at Yarmok University. Impact of Electronic Interaction Patterns in a Collaborative Learning and Instructional Anchors-Based Environment on Developing Instructional Design Skills and Achievement Motivation

This study aimed to investigate the impact of electronic synchronous and asynchronous interaction patterns, in a learning environment based on collaborative learning and instructional anchors, on developing instructional design skills and achievement motivation. A quasi-experimental design was used to develop a theoretical framework and research tools, while a sample of 50 students from the College of Education at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University were selected and 25 allocated to each of two experimental groups. Synchronous and asynchronous interaction patterns were used to teach instructional design skills to and stimulate achievement motivation in the first and second groups, respectively. The impact on each group was then assessed through achievement, observation card, evaluation card, and achievement motivation scale pre- and posttests. The results from the asynchronous exceeded the synchronous interaction pattern, due to its 24/7 availability, revealing the impact on enhancing students’ achievement motivation to be significant. The primary contribution of this study is the discovery that adapting modern technology to the educational context opens up new horizons for e-learning and instructional anchors. Participatory Teaching and Learning Approach: A Framework for Teaching Redox Reactions at High School Level

This study aimed at designing a framework to help students develop a conceptual understanding of redox reactions, which draws on constructivist learning theory. This framework was in the form of participatory teaching and learning approach comprising Insight, Interaction, Task, and Forum. The framework was designed and developed based on the literature and used in a teaching trial. At the prototype phase of the design-based approach, a mixed methods design was employed in data collection. Fifteen students from a second-year senior high school class responded to the achievement test and interacted with the researchers. A stratified sampling procedure was used to select the students. In lessons on redox reactions, the framework helped the teacher to identify students’ alternative conceptions and confronted them through cognitive engagements leading to conceptual understanding in redox reactions. Percentages, related samples t-test, and themes were used to analyse data. The results showed that there was an improvement in students’ conceptual understanding of redox reactions. It is, therefore, recommended that chemistry educators and researchers should use the framework in large scale research to assure the scientific community the efficacy of it in developing conceptual change in students. The study contributes to the existing literature by the design and development of an alternative framework for participatory instruction, which is all encompassing in approach. Unlike other instructions, the framework; Insight, Interaction, Task, and Forum, takes advantage of alternative conceptions and ends with students’ ability to evaluate colleague’s presentations. Chemical Changes Associated with Repetitive Re-Use of Vegetable Oil during Deep Frying of Bean Cake, Plantain and Yam
Oil re-use is a common practice in households. Oxidative and hydrolytic reactions have been reported to cause significant changes in oil quality. This study was carried out to determine the chemical changes specific to beans cake (Vigna unguiculata), Plantain (Musa paradisiaca) and yellow yam (Discorea cayenensis) frying with repetitive re-use of oil. Refined vegetable and palm oil were used for five consecutive frying operations for bean cake, plantain and yam. Free fatty acids, iodine value, peroxide value and saponification value of the first, third and fifth frying operations were determined using standard methods. For refined vegetable oil, the FFA range for repeated frying operations obtained for bean cake, plantain and yam were 0.31-0.53, 0.37-0.52 and 0.40 to 0.53 % oleic respectively. While palm oil re-use had a range of 11.87 to 14.97 in the value of their FFA. Peroxide value (3.24- 4.92 meq/kg), Iodine value (91.09-107.00 mg/100g) and Saponification value (125.00-152.66 mgKOH/g) were obtained for re-use refined vegetable oil while Peroxide value (27.95-77.02 meq/kg), Iodine value (131.68-210.89 g/100g) and Saponification value (179.45-197.50 mgKOH/g) were obtained for re-use palm oil. Generally, frying operation led to increase in the FFA of refined vegetable oil. Frying operation for peroxide value significantly varied for all frying operation for plantain. Significant difference existed in iodine value at p<0.05 among frying operations for bean cake and yam. Changes in chemical properties of oil were affected by frying duration and food material fried. The present study reported variations in the chemical properties of vegetable oil as affected by the type of food material (bean cake, plantain and yam) during repeated frying operation. Extent of changes caused by hydrolytic and oxidative reactions is dependent on the food material used for deep frying operation. This work also was able to ascertain that acceptable oil re-use depended on the frying duration and food material. Exploration of Intellectual Software Systems and Development of Conceptual Model
This article explores the field of artificial intelligence and intellectual systems. The structure, types and classification of the intellectual system are studied. The intellectual system is a technical or software system that is capable of solving the problems which are specific and creative in a particular subject area, so that knowledge is stored in the memory of such systems. Intelligent System is a technical or software system that competently solves the problems that are relevant to a particular subject area and that knowledge is stored in such systems. Intelligent systems are studied by a team of researchers called "artificial intelligence". The article provides the differences between the ordinary system and the intellectual system. The system is intellectual when it not only changes the parameters of information access, but also changes its behavior itself depending on the system capability. Intelligent system in decision-making technologies is an intellectual information-computing system that solves the problems without human involvement. The classification of intellectual systems is analyzed in the article. A conceptual model for intelligent systems has been developed. The intellectual systems themselves may also have some gaps. Location Mapping of Hydrothermal Alteration Using Landsat 8 Data: A Case of Study in Prestea Huni Valley District, Ghana

Utilization of multispectral satellite images is an excellent approach in the reconnaissance stage of gold prospecting due to its high effectiveness and low cost. This research used Landsat 8 Remote Sensing data and Geographical Information System to identify, delineate and map hydrothermal alteration zone relating to gold pattern mineralization in Prestea Huni Valley District in the Western Region of Ghana. Principle Component Analysis (PCA), three band combinations, spectral rationing and Crosta techniques are used in this study. For three band combinations, bands 5, 4, 3 and 5, 6, 7 are used to map location of hydrothermal alterations. Band ratios (7/5and6/7), (6/5) and (4/2) are used to identify presence of clay, ferrous and iron oxide minerals respectively. Sabin's ratio 4/2, 6/7 and 6/5, Kaufmann ratio 7/5, 5/4 and 6/7, and 4/2, 6/7 and 5 are used to identify vegetation, outcrop and hydrothermal alterations respectively. Crosta and PCA techniques were used to suppress the interference of vegetation in delineating the alteration zones. Results revealed that the three band combinations and spectral ratioing clearly depicts hydrothermal deposit of ferrous minerals, clay and iron oxide minerals. PCA identifies presence of iron-oxide and hydroxyl minerals as bright pixels. The first three high order principal components (PC1, PC2 and PC3) of input spectral bands gave more than 98% of the spectral information. Thus, the results from satellite images an effective and efficient way of mapping hydrothermal alteration zones at regional scale. Contribution/ Originality

Factors Influencing Undergraduates Choice of Teaching as a Career (Fit-Choice) in Nigeria

This paper examined the factors influencing career choice in Nigeria using the (FIT-choice) scale of Watt and Richardson (2007). The study was guided by three research questions and the suitability of the scale for Nigeria was sought. The study used a survey design using purposive sampling technique to obtain a sample of 225 students from the Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. The obtained data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results obtained showed social utility values as the most influential factors in choosing teaching as a career in Nigeria. The study also found that teaching was not only a highly expert career but that undergraduates’ decision to become teachers is a function of satisfaction. The study recommended that both the Federal and State governments should provide better remuneration for teachers to boast their morale. Contribution/ Originality
The study revealed factors motivating undergraduates to choose teaching as a career in Nigeria. It used the FIT-choice scale as against prior study that only focused on the validation of the scale. This study explored how undergraduate NTREA students enrolled at the undergraduate distance learning engineering programme described their learning experience and why they decided to enroll in the distance learning-based programmes. 28 participants with majors in civil engineering, computer engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, and biomedical engineering were invited for a private online Skype interview for data collection. The results of this research provide direction for NTREA students, university administrators, educational professionals, career counsellors, human resource planners, policymakers, and governmental leaders to reform and improve human resource planning, educational programmes, and even international enrolment schemes through the development of instructional technology and applications. The study contributes to the existing literature on distance learning education, student satisfaction, and university enrolment management. The primary contribution of this article also provides directions for reform and improve their distance learning education, student engagement, and teaching and learning styles. A Modified Roundtable Technique Based on Process Approach to Promote the Students Writing Achievements in Foreign Language Setting

This study investigated whether students’ writing achievements could increase using a modified roundtable technique based on the process approach and to find out what aspects of writing significantly increase. A quantitative study in the form of pre-experimental design was conducted which involved 21 tenth grade students of a 1 Pekalongan– Lampung province senior high school 1 in Indonesia. The overall obtained pre- and post-test writing data were compared through the Paired sample t-test both in the overall sample and for each specific aspect. The results demonstrated that there was a significant increase in the students’ writing achievements. The significant increases were found in all writing aspects, except mechanics. This modified roundtable technique makes learning situations enjoyable and allows the students to use the target language and share their ideas in every step of writing (pre-writing, drafting, revising and editing). By following these steps, the students gradually have knowledge of how to write a good paragraph by considering aspects of writing (content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics). The Role of Social Security Program for Enhancing Seniors Longevity
The United States’ social security system seeks to lower seniors’ probability of death. Given this strategic goal, the argument for the support of a government- managed social security program still shows greater promise than the program’s privatization. Americans seem to have greater wellness and longevity under the current government-run social security program. In fact, this program could explain the declining probability of death since the inception of the program. Conversely, many supporters of privatizing the social security system would highlight the huge opportunity costs for their contributions to the social security funds. Yet, many seniors may not withstand the possibility of sustaining financial losses in the volatile financial market. On the other hand, the proponents of the current government-run social security program may overlook potential interest and capital gains that could be realized if the contributions are invested in the private financial market. In a nutshell, social security is widely accepted as a part of the social safety net of the country aiming to improve senior citizens’ wellness and longevity. Trade Union Performance and Industrial Relations Climate in the Nigerian Petroleum Sector

This study explores the relationships between the variables of industrial relations climate as well as the performance of trade union in selected petroleum companies in Nigeria. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design. A total of 361 copies of the feedback forms were administered to the workers of the selected petroleum companies revealed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, but a total of 350 copies of questionnaire were completed and appropriately returned. The study used correlation analysis along with T-test analysis for data analysis. In the first hypothesis, the correlation analysis reveal a significant positive relationship between integrative bargaining and the four magnitude of the industrial relations climate (harmony, openness, hostility in addition to apathy) in the Nigerian petroleum sector, while a negative relationship between integrative bargaining with promptness is present. In the second hypothesis, the correlation analysis shows that leadership behaviour has a significant positive relationship involving the dimensions of industrial relations climate (harmony, openness, hostility and apathy), while a negative relationship linking leadership behavior along with the promptness is present. The third hypothesis shows that harmony, openness, apathy and promptness have a positive control on the union density, while hostility has a negative influence on the union density. The study recommends that management should respect the rights of workers and employees and their unions should take note of employers' prerogatives. In the spirit of industrial harmony, social dialogue and collective bargaining must be supported by facts and figures to avoid adversarial and confrontations between unions and management. The Effectiveness of a Cloud-Based Learning Program in Developing Reflective thinking Skills in Islamic Education among Students in UAE

It has been observed that students still lack understanding of the Shari'a concepts and principles and how to deal with them. Also, a lot of students deal with the Islamic Education superficially, with the absence of applying critical, reflective and creative thinking, on top of that, if the Islamic Education studies remain mainly dependent on memorization and reciting, it will not leaving tangible effects on students or their lifestyles, which necessitates forming modern educational models that help students develop the skills of reflective thinking of the Islamic Education. The study investigated the impact of a cloud-based learning program in developing reflective thinking skills in Islamic education among UAE students. The sample consisted of 94 students from tenth grade, who were divided into two equal groups: an experimental group that studied the course using a cloud-based learning program and a control group that studied the same course in the usual way. To achieve the study objectives, reflective thinking (pre/post-testing) was applied. The results showed a significant difference in reflective thinking as whole and all its skills, due to the teaching method in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed no significant difference between the mean of the experimental group's students on the post-test due to the gender variable This study contributed in developing an educational program based on cloud-based learning and educational techniques in educational curriculum and Islamic educational teaching methods, and revealed its effectiveness in improving reflective thinking skills. According to these findings, the study recommended the use of cloud-based learning strategies, especially in the future shifting towards the digital curricula. Contribution/ Originality
The most important contributions of this study were to develop an educational program based on cloud computing in teaching Islamic education that was proven effective. This study is one of the first studies that taught the Islamic education curriculum using cloud computing. This study also encourages schools to provide technology infrastructure and devices, tools necessary to activate cloud computing services, in a manner compatible with the numbers of students and their needs and calls for the preparation of various programs in the light of modern technological teaching strategies, especially in light of the future trend towards computerizing curricula.
