5. Abbreviations

Spell out abbreviations at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.
Example: World Health Organization (WHO). Use the abbreviation thereafter.

6. Tables and Figures

General Guidelines

  • Use tables and figures to complement, not duplicate, the text.
  • Each must be self-contained and understandable without referring to the text.

Numbering and Referencing

  • Number sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 2).
  • Refer to them explicitly in the text:
    As shown in Figure 2…
    Table 1 summarizes the results…
  • Avoid abbreviations like Fig. or Tbl.

Placement

  • Insert close to their first mention in the text.
  • Do not split across pages.

Tables

  • Use single spacing, 10-point font.
  • Title above the table; notes or footnotes below.
  • Align numbers consistently; use uniform units.

Figures

  • Submit in high-resolution (300 dpi) formats (.png, .jpg, etc.).
  • Caption placed below the figure.
  • Use contrasting elements suitable for grayscale printing.

Consistency

  • Maintain consistent font, style, and color scheme.
  • Avoid overly complex visuals.
  • Ensure labels and legends are legible.

7. Footnotes

Use sparingly. Number consecutively and place at the bottom of the relevant page.

8. Acknowledgements

Place before the references. Include support such as funding, technical assistance, or other non-author contributions.

9. Funding Statement

Disclose all financial support. If none, include a declaration of no funding.

Examples:

  • This research was supported by the [Funding Organization], Grant Number [XXXXXX].
  • This study received no specific financial support.

10. Ethics Statement / Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Include an ethics statement for all research involving human or animal subjects, or sensitive data.

Examples:

  • Approved by the IRB of [Institution Name], Approval No. [XXXX]. Written informed consent was obtained.
  • Animal procedures were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of [Institution Name], Protocol No. [XXXX].
  • Ethical review was waived for this study, as it involved no human or animal subjects.
  • Not applicable.

11.Disclosure of AI Use

The uses of AI tools must be clearly disclosed in manuscript submissions. This includes tools used for text generation, image creation, data analysis, programming support, or translation. Disclosures should be provided in the Disclosure of AI Use section of the manuscript and must specify the name and version of the AI tool, along with the purpose of its use.

Example disclosure:
“The author(s) used OpenAI’s ChatGPT (version May 2024) to improve the clarity and grammar of the Introduction section. All content was reviewed and verified by the authors.”
Failure to disclose AI usage may be considered a breach of publishing ethics and may result in rejection, correction, or retraction of the article.
