To achieve educational goals, effective management of this resource is vital. There is therefore need to move from emphasis on centralized teacher management to school level management of teachers. School based management of teachers is one  of the most significant trend in education reform geared towards facilitating effective decision making, improving internal processes and utilizing resources in teaching and learning to meet school goals. Various practices to this effect have been expounded in this paper to include: competitive reward, rigorous recruitment and selection,  induction and support for new teachers, continuous learning and development, teacher evaluation, teacher motivation, self- managed teams, reduction of status differentials by ensuring equity and fairness and also ensuring employee involvement communication to give employees a say in decision making.}, DOI = {10.18488/journal.61/2016.4.12/61.12.268.280} }
